One-day symposium
University of Birmingham
Organised by Michela Baldo, Elena Basile and Samuele Grassi
A hybrid one-day symposium exploring horizons, challenges, and possibilities of transfeminist queer translation in connection to theories of affect and decoloniality.
Starting with an opening address by leading feminist writer Sara Ahmed, the day will unfold with panels and roundtables that will discuss the ethics and politics of translation as an accountable, embodied, and affective practice.
The evening event, rumi roaming in Birmingham, will feature a group of poets and artists gathering together to offer poetry readings, video screenings and performance work from and inspired by the multi-lingual and multi-platform anthology rumi roaming: contemporary engagements and interventions (Guernica and Subversive Press, 2025).
